Congratulations to the host Ladner Pioneers of the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association and BC Champions for winning the Gold Medal Saturday at the 2024 Presidents Cup National Men’s Senior B Lacrosse Championship. The Pioneers avenged a loss to the Edmonton Miners of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League earlier in the tournament by beating the Minors 9-2 in front of sold-out crowd at the Ladner Leisure Centre. Ladner jumped out to 4-0 lead and never looked back thanks to a stellar effort by Christian Del Bianco in goal who stopped 44 of 46 shots and was named Tournament MVP.
The Miners outshot the Pioneers 46-42. Ladner's Tyler Pace, who was the top point producer in the WCSLA, had 3 goals and 4 assists to lead all scorers in the game.
It is the Pioneers' third straight Presidents Cup win, a feat last accomplished by the Miners when they were based in St. Albert 2016, 2017 and 2018. Congratulations also to Edmonton for a great showing and taking home the Silver Medal.
A huge shoutout to John Burr and his tournament organizing committee for putting on a great event!
